LiSA Lithium Refining Pilot Project

The LiSA consortium, initiated by Nobian and partners, is a three-year pilot project in the Netherlands to scale a circular, low-carbon route for lithium refining in Europe. The project aims to refine lithium from European sources, including geothermal brines and recycled batteries, into battery-grade lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonate using Nobian's patented crystallization technology. The process is more energy-efficient, reduces CO2 emissions, uses less water, and produces fewer waste streams compared to conventional methods. The pilot-scale research facility will test different lithium feedstocks, optimize process conditions, and manage impurities in recycled lithium streams.
