Description

Description

The project Literary Europe Facing New Challenges ranges over 3 years and covers a set of 30 fiction books which meet the criteria for high-quality content combined with socially engaged messages. The general purpose of the project is to acquaint the young and mature generation with a number of contemporary European authors and works which reflect actual and burning issues of our world: environmental crisis, terrorism, the new refugee crisis, shameful discrimination in terms of ethnic, national, racial, gender, sexual, religious and other appurtenance. Top priority are the “small” languages, gifted women authors, young authors, award-winning books and titles which deserve international recognition. Key priorities of the project are acceleration on of trans-national circulation and diversity of European literary works; reaching new audiences and widening of the existing ones; strengthening the competitiveness of the book sector. The cross-cutting issues are especially important for Colibri: inclusion of readers of different social status, beliefs, origin etc., gender equality, ecology issues. The quality criteria are strictly observed and almost all the authors are award holders, the EUPL being in the spotlight with 13 laureates and 8 nominations. All of the above will be achieved through the following main activities: a selection of high-quality contemporary European prose; organization of all necessary resources for the implementation of the project at each stage; translation, editing and correction of the 30 works, distributed by years within the project; publishing, storage and distribution; comprehensive and profound communication and promotion of Bulgarian editions with the participation of authors and translators; applying both traditional and innovative marketing tools in order to reach all target groups identified in the project; providing of sustainability and continuation of project activities.
