Description

Many joint cross-border projects and initiatives were realized and enhanced the long-term, sustainable cooperation among different entities representing both Lithuania-Poland sides of the border. Remarkable example of this is the bottom-up activities leading to establish Sejny-Lazdijai and neighbouring Polish and Lithuanian municipalities as a potential cross-border functional area. It is a result of the tendency to deepen Polish-Lithuanian integration which is particularly visible in the cooperating municipalities: 9 on the Polish side: Puńsk, Krasnopol, Sejny district, Sejny city, Sejny, Wiżajny, Giby, Szypliszki and Rutka-Tartak and 3 on the Lithuanian side: Vilkaviškis, Kalvarija and Lazdijai. Total 12 partners have challenged themselves to create joint functional area as single tourism destination point. It is first Lithuania-Poland bordeland project aimed to implement joint activities targeted at promotion of a region as a single tourism destination: joint educational workshops; joint tourism route, creation of joint functional area identity, information in local media, social networks; to transfer of good practices among beneficiaries during joint activities implementation: during joint events partners organize partners meetings as well active participate in workshops, creation process and cross border events; to create and promote new tourism product - Lithuania-Polish functional area as a single destination point. Project duration is 15 month, budget 93596,688 euro.
