Description
Description | The aim of the project is to use SNOMED CT nomenclature in the descriptions of laboratory test results and orders, and thus to renew Lithuania’s membership of SNOMED International and make SNOMED CT available for healthcare related organisations (e.g. hospitals, health care providers, health research facilities, health IT providers). As well as to promote and facilitate the use of SNOMED CT in Lithuania. The project aims to ensure the use of SNOMED CT in the description of laboratory test results and orders by ordering, reviewing and exchanging laboratory tests between different healthcare facilities, thus contributing to the improvement of personal healthcare provision and enabling future exchange of patient laboratory test data between EU countries. The use of SNOMED CT in laboratory test descriptions will ensure common interpretation of patient health data when visiting different health care institutions or traveling, also will contribute to more effective telemedicine options. The use of a standardized nomenclature will also reduce errors for laboratory staff and avoid inaccuracies in the description of laboratory tests. |
