Description

Description

The proposed action will train 345 lawyers and 30 multipliers in Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Poland, and Romania on the EU rule of law acquis. The action is designed as a timely, targeted intervention in the MS facing the most pressing rule of law concerns. Thus, it will contribute to the goals of both the new EU Judicial Training Strategy and EU policies aimed at strengthening the rule of law within the Union. The action espouses an innovative methodology that goes beyond the mere transfer of knowledge and is expected to empower participants in the project activities to become agents of change in their respective jurisdictions. Specifically, we will: - Provide introductory cross-border training to 300 lawyers on the EU rule of law acquis, including recent CJEU and ECtHR case law; - Provide advanced cross-border training, including on litigation techniques, and empower a further 45 activist lawyers and human rights defenders to become Guardians of the Rule of Law; - Provide cross-border training to 30 trainers who will act as multipliers; - Develop a sustainable e-learning resource for lawyers and trainers; - Raise awareness and foster policy discussions on the intersection of EU judicial training and rule of law policies. The project intervention will focus on four thematic areas that are a challenge to the rule of law in all target countries: (a) judicial independence and access to justice; (b) transparency and anti-corruption; (c) freedom of the media and the press, including digital media; and (d) civic participation. We will specifically target participants who tend not to participate in cross-border trainings due to language, time-related, and other barriers (a) by providing simultaneous interpretation and rendering the training material available in 6 languages (national languages and English); (b) by offering options for remote participation through the use of mixed learning methodologies (hybrid and blended learning).
