Description
Description | Yukon Government’s Environmental Health department conducted an inspection of the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) water treatment plant (WTP) in 2017 and an engineering assessment was subsequently conducted to address the deficiencies noted in that report. To address these deficiencies, and after consulting with LSCFN, the recommended upgrades include the following: -Purchase of a backup well pump; -Replacement of the existing non-compliant greensands filter media; -Replacement of the existing non-validated UV system to meet primary disinfection requirements; -Replacement of chlorine dosing system to meet secondary disinfection requirements; -Upgrade of instrumentation and controls, including the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system and programmable logic controller (PLC); -Truckfill and distribution upgrades; -Replacement of some existing piping and equipment; and -New fume hood and chemical storage. The LSCFN WTP was built in 2011 and is considered a Large Public Drinking Water system as it has more than five service points for bulk water delivery. The engineering report is currently complete at 30% and thus funding for this project will be required for detailed design and construction. |
