The Liuzhou Environment Management Project for China aims to improve the environmental conditions in Liuzhou through improved wastewater treatment, sanitation control, solid waste management, and industrial wastewater pollution control. The project has the following five components: Component 1) will help develop a comprehensive wastewater collection and treatment system in Liuzhou. The project will: (a) invest in about 73km of sewers, 76 km of interceptors, seven pumping stations, and four wastewater treatment plants (WWTP); (b) rehabilitate about 42 km of drains; and (c) support operations in the recently established autonomous wastewater management company. Component 2) will construct approximately 62 public toilets and procure 30 portable toilets, two mobile toilets, and six sanitation trucks. Component 3) will construct one municipal solid waste transfer station, 42 waste collection stations, and procure needed waste hauling trucks and associated vehicles to transport waste to the second city landfill. Component 4) will help Liuzhou Municipal Government (LMG) implement comprehensive industrial wastewater pollution control policies and programs. Component 5) includes technical assistance (TA) to: help implement the project's wastewater, solid waste management, and municipal sanitation components.
