Description | The Live Oak project is a pilot facility aiming to produce electric natural gas (e-NG), also known as e-methane. It is one of four such projects in the US, initiated by TotalEnergies and Tree Energy Solutions, currently under development in Nebraska. The project targets a capacity of approximately 250 megawatts of electrolysis and 75,000 tonnes of methane per annum, with commercial operations expected to start in 2030. Japanese companies Osaka Gas, Toho Gas, and Itochu have acquired a combined 33.3% stake in the project and will be primary offtakers. The project plans to ship e-NG to Japan and leverages Nebraska's biogenic CO2 resources and renewable power generation capacity. |
