Lives in motion aims to develop an interdisciplinary, non-formal educational toolkit that teachers can integrate into global education programmes that unites material and methodologies from science, history, theatre, creative writing, physical education and human rights education to offer young Europeans an understanding of migrations into, out of and within Europe that is multi-faceted, historical and critical. Such an understanding aims to help senior high school students develop key capacities for the EU’s achievement of SDG 4 Education (United Nations, SDG 4, para 7) such as understanding globalisation and global citizenship, appreciating cultural diversity and promoting tolerance and understanding. It will also raise high school students’ awareness of the impact of colonial legacies on European multicultural societies. Global education programmes are the most appropriate location for this toolkit since such programmes open people’s eyes and minds to the realities of the world and awaken them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and human rights for all and are especially effective for bridging formal, non-formal education and local realities together. The project has set itself the following objectives: General objective: Help improve young people’s historical knowledge and understanding of migrations Specific Objective 1: Enhance education about migrations for high school students Specific Objective 2: Strengthen collaboration between young people’s formal and non-formal educators
