Main objective : The main aim of the LiCCo project is to empower Channel communities to adapt to coastal climate change and to create better places and better public services. The nine pilot sites studied in the project’s framework are located in Normandy, Devon and Dorset. The partners will work with coastal communities living in these sites and who are confronted by the threat of impacts from sea level rise and coastal erosion. Main actions : - Information Gathering & Networking: - Development of network of public and business sector stakeholders, evaluation and outreach activities. - Regional characteristics report establishing a strategic regional and cross border context to sea level rise and coastal erosion - Awareness raising of the outputs and implications that the Shoreline Management Plan and Coastal Strategies findings have on local communities and organisations - Sharing & Developing Best Practice: - Adapting existing tools and methods for engaging local stakeholders through liaison with Interreg projects; 2150, CAMIS, C-Scope, BRANCH and Aquamanche. - Definition of pilot site social, economic and environmental profiles - Organisation of a cross border exhibition with visual representations of changes to the coastline through photos and video montages showing the changing face of Poole harbour and Estuaire de l'Orne - Modelling flood defence condition performance assessment - Developing indicators to monitor changes in the benthos, bird habitats etc. - Dissemination & Mainstreaming: redaction of political recommendations for the local, regional, national and international decision-makers.
