Description

The Lobo Marte project is a new gold mining operation in northern Chile, involving open-pit mining of the Marte and Lobo pits sequentially. It includes a processing rate of around 35,000 tonnes per day, with a useful life of 22 years comprising 3.5 years of construction, 16 years of operation, and 2 years of closure. The project aims to extract 161 million tonnes of material over 14 years, producing an estimated 6.7 million ounces of contained gold and 4.7 million ounces recoverable, with an average grade of 1.29 g/t. It will be developed in the communes of Copiapó and Tierra Amarilla, Atacama Region, at an altitude of approximately 4,200 meters over an area of around 2,312 hectares. The project includes installation of a static leach pad with six growth phases, a drip irrigation system, water supply from existing wells, ore transportation by truck to the primary crusher and stockpile areas, waste material dumps, power supply via a 220kV transmission line, and road access via Route C-341 which will be upgraded and extended. Construction is expected between 2027 and 2030, with operations starting at the beginning of the next decade.
