Description

Description

"The LEAP-STEP proposal, led by the Maison de l’Europe in Paris (MdEP), aims to gather 8 local partners from 7 different Member states to join forces as a network, providing disadvantaged populations in the EU with the key elements to combat energy-related problems, raise their awareness of climate issues and thus reduce their household energy costs. In the short term, once they are aware, they will be able to address their households to provide effective solutions in the daily fight against energy poverty. This network could thus provide long-term solutions to mitigate the economic and social impact, include European citizens and foster social support. Energy poverty is not a fatality, it requires discipline and effort that is sometimes difficult to accept. It can be alleviated with the right gestures. The consortium wants to work with citizens of all ages and backgrounds, especially those affected by energy poverty. The project will be developed in 3 phases: Phase 1) 8 conferences will be organised in each partner/city involved, to raise the awareness of vulnerable populations, which is the project’s target, on the objectives of the ""European Green deal "" and on energy poverty. At the end of the meetings, partners will make a first assessment of the impact of energy poverty, especially on vulnerable populations; Phase 2) exchanges will be envisaged between the 8 partners to create synergies, exchanges and identify different citizen’s actions to respond to daily life situations of energy poverty and to learn from best practices on how to better use energy in households and to prepare the contents for the travelling exhibition. Phase 3) As a result of exchanges between partners and the cities involved in previous phases, each partner will oversee the design of 4 panels of the travelling exhibition (28 panels in total) will be organised in each of the cities involved. It will aim to highlight different citizen actions at local level to fight against energy poverty. "
