Description

The Long Island project is a plan by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to reclaim about 800 hectares of land off the East Coast of Singapore, stretching from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Marina Barrage. The project aims to protect flood-prone low-lying areas from rising sea levels by creating a physical line of defence through land reclamation. It will also add around 20km of new coastal parks, forming part of a larger 120km accessible waterfront space. The project includes building 12 outlet drains, 2 centralised barrages, and pumping stations to manage water levels and prevent flooding.
