Description
Description | This project involves the remediation of an old gold mine at the southwest end of Long Lake, which has been leaching arsenic and other toxic compounds into surrounding wetlands, creeks, and lakes. The remediation plan includes building an access road to the site to enable rehabilitation work, consolidating tailings and contaminated materials in a secure impoundment, capping and revegetating the area to prevent further contamination, and supporting long-term environmental recovery. The project also includes using an existing aggregate pit near Wavy Lake as a quarry to source local materials for road construction and site rehabilitation. |
