EGE Haina, a partnership of Haina Investment Company (50%; Basic Energy, now Interenergy Holdings, held a controlling stake in Haina Investment Co.) and state-owned investment funds (50%), was granted the authorization to build and operate the 77-MW wind park located at Juancho (Pedernales) and Enriquillo (Barahona). The electricity produced by the power plant was set to be directed to the national grid. Construction works on the first 25-MW unit commenced in 2010 and were concluded in 2011. This first phase involved investments of US$ 100 million, and the Spanish firm Cobra was hired as the EPC developer. In 2012, the company undertook the expansion of the wind farm, adding 52 MW in capacity also at a cost of US$ 100 million.
