Description

In July 2013, Gasoductos de Chihuahua, a 50/50 partnership of Infraestructura Energetica Nova (IEnova) - a subsidiary of the American company Sempra Generation - and the Mexican state-owned company Pemex, was awarded the right to build and operate a natural gas pipeline starting in the municipality of Camargo, state of Tamaulipas, and finishing in the municipality of Los Ramones, state of Nuevo Leon. The pipeline named Gasoducto Los Ramones Phase I was set to have 116 km in extension with a maximum transport capacity of 1,000 mmpcd. Gasoductos de Chihuahua established the special purpose company Gasoductos del Noreste do manage the project. The 25-year contract was signed with Pemex for the operation and sale of the totality of the natural gas transported in the pipeline imported from the United States. Pemex was set to transfer the imported natural gas to other national users. The total investment in the project was estimated at US$ 800 million. Construction works began in March 2014 and were concluded by December 2014. Also in December 2014, the sponsors signed an agreement with the American company SunGard to help manage its pipeline operations.
