Description

Description

The Water and Wastewater Infrastructure to Facilitate Shovel-Ready Affordable Housing Project in the City of Hamilton, Ontario aims to upgrade the Lotus Avenue wastewater system to support the development of 261 purpose-built rental units at 60 Caledon Avenue. This project involves upsizing the existing 250mm diameter sewer pipe to a 300mm diameter sewer pipe, increasing the wastewater system’s capacity by 27 litres per second. The upgrade will enable 645 new housing units, including 149 affordable-housing units and 69 units designed for individuals with physical disabilities. This initiative addresses the City of Hamilton’s housing crisis, enhances urban density, and supports community sustainability. Slated to start in February 2025, the project is expected to ensure long-term infrastructure reliability and growth.
