Loud for Democracy 2026 (LOUD DEM 2026) aims to enhance citizens’ engagement by building the capacities of citizens for participation, facilitating interaction between citizens and decision-makers, and advocating for open and transparent political institutions. Gong, as a European think-do-tank and democracy watchdog, employs a variety of methods (research, advocacy, education, networking, campaigning and discussion) to contribute to building an open, democratic and inclusive society anchored in the rule of law and human rights. LOUD DEM 2026 consists of activities which contribute to the following main goals: 1) to increase citizens’ engagement in decision-making through strengthening participatory democracy and democratisation of electoral and other political processes at all levels of decision-making - local, national and EU level, 2) to strengthen democratic integrity of electoral processes, 3) to raise the level of civic literacy through quality formal and informal civic education, and 4) to increase the responsibility and integrity of political institutions and political actors by strengthening democratic political culture, public oversight and transparency. These efforts directly support Union values including respect for the rule of law, and the fostering of democratic dialogue, transparency and good governance.
