Description | INEOS Acetyls and Sandpiper Chemicals have partnered to develop a low-carbon methanol plant at INEOS' Texas City site. The facility will produce 1.1 million metric tons of low-carbon methanol annually using natural gas paired with carbon capture technology, aiming for a carbon footprint far lower than the industry standard. INEOS will take an equity stake and serve as a primary customer, using up to 300,000 tons annually for acetic acid production. The project is expected to create 1,500 construction jobs and 25 permanent jobs, incorporating carbon capture and storage technology with a 97% CO2 capture rate. |
