LIGAWINE aims to propose breakthrough sustainable techniques to pursue the production of quality wines both in the context of climate change and the evolution of societal expectations concerning the preservation of the environment, especially through low-input grape-growing and winemaking techniques and by transferring technologies amongst the wine regions of Europe. Wine growing structures are currently confronted with various dilemmas, technical bottlenecks and dead ends, which have a strong impact on the sustainability of wine production for all European wine-growing regions. This project aims to strengthen the innovation in the wine industry through investments within the interregional innovation projects and to ensure multiple market applications, and an impact for public authorities, industry, academia and citizens, especially in less developed European wine regions. To do so, LIGAWINE proposes three main actions: • Implementing 8 large-scale investments (7 SMEs et 1 large enterprise) in different European wine regions. These investments concern the testing of new plant materials resistant to diseases, the deployment of different biocontrol and biostimulant products resulting from the valorization of natural resources, the use of new IT tools to facilitate the work of grape growers and winemakers, new molecules to improve efficiency and reduce inputs, and solutions focusing on automated tasks and therefore energy savings in the cellar. • Identifying and propose additional solutions through Open Calls (FTSP) which are set up targeting complementary technologies and solutions, including cross sectoral, with a strong focus on less developed regions. • Connecting the regional industry and S3 needs to the investments and optimizing investments in the regional economies and creating lighthouses of innovation.
