Lower Snake River Dams Hydroelectric Operations

litigation resumed

The project involves the operation and potential removal of four Snake River dams — Ice Harbor Dam, Lower Monumental Dam, Little Goose Dam, and Lower Granite Dam — which provide irrigation and emissions-free hydropower but have contributed to the near extinction of native salmon and steelhead populations in the Columbia River Basin. The project has been subject to long-running litigation and a restoration initiative aimed at recovering native fish populations while maintaining public services.
