The Lower Thames Crossing is a major infrastructure project focused on constructing a new crossing over the Thames. The project aims to meet ambitious low-carbon targets and support the construction industry's drive toward net-zero emissions. It includes initiatives to develop green skills, create local jobs, and use low-carbon construction methods such as green hydrogen. The project plans to employ a significant portion of the workforce locally and spend a substantial part of its budget with SMEs. Skills Hubs will be opened along the route to provide training and mentoring for local people.
