Description | This project involves the Lower Yellowstone Irrigation Project which includes an Intake Diversion Dam, a screened headworks structure, 71 miles of main canal and 225 miles of lateral canals. The project provides irrigation water to approximately 58,000 acres in eastern Montana and western North Dakota. It also includes a 2.1 mile-long fish bypass channel authorized in 2007 to allow the endangered pallid sturgeon access to upstream spawning grounds. The bill reaffirms that the Bureau of Reclamation retains ownership, operational control, and financial responsibility for the fish bypass channel. |
