Description
Description | LRE-YOUTH is a transnational initiative led by the LRE Foundation to empower young people aged 16–30 through meaningful engagement with the memory of World War II and its relevance to contemporary European society. The project responds to challenges such as declining historical awareness, youth disengagement from democratic life, and the rise of disinformation, antisemitism, and intolerance. It aims to turn historical remembrance into a dynamic and youth-led driver of civic participation, education, and critical thinking. To achieve this, LRE-YOUTH will implement a coherent set of long-term, scalable activities. A Youth Advisory Board will be established to ensure youth involvement in decision-making processes. A dedicated Youth Strategy will be co-created to embed EU Youth Goals across all operations. A growing network of Youth Ambassadors will promote leadership, peer-to-peer learning, and intercultural exchange. The LRE Forum – Youth Edition will bring together young people from across Europe for capacity building, reflection, and action. A structured traineeship and mentoring programme will strengthen collaboration between youth and remembrance institutions. In addition, a series of expert-led online workshops will help young participants connect historical lessons to societal issues such as hate speech, extremism, and democratic fragility. Through these actions, the project will directly contribute to the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy (Engage, Connect, Empower), advance youth participation in civil society, and promote inclusion, diversity, and European values. The expected result is a more resilient, informed, and empowered generation shaping a shared future rooted in remembrance and democratic engagement. |
