LS Cable & System Manufacturing Campus Expansion in Chesapeake

LS Cable & System, a South Korea-based company, plans to invest an additional $689 million to build a manufacturing campus in Chesapeake, Virginia. The project will be operated through three subsidiaries, including LS Greenlink USA, and aims to create 430 jobs. The manufacturing complex will establish a domestic supply chain for magnetic copper wire and rare earth magnets, bypassing Chinese suppliers. The project is part of an expansion following an initial $680 million investment for a high-voltage direct current submarine cable manufacturing and port facility, with the first phase expected to complete by Q3 2027 and full operation by Q1 2028.
