Ludhiana Solid Waste Management Smart City Project

in progress

Launched in 2021, this project involves the installation of static compactors and hook loaders at key sites in Ludhiana to improve solid waste management. Initially, 63 static compactors and 26 hook loaders were installed at 22 sites. In 2023, the project was revised to include 30 more compactors and 10 additional hook loaders, with a revised deadline of September 2025. The project now covers 123 sites after the transfer of 30 sites from Ludhiana Improvement Trust to the Municipal Corporation, with a total cost of ₹42 crore. Efforts are ongoing to meet the revised deadline and to repair and install additional equipment at the new sites.
