Description
Description | The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia is a multi-purpose facility with an arena, aquatic centre, library, and community space. The LCLC is wholly owned by the Town of Bridgewater and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg in a 50-50 share split. This project will support energy efficiency upgrades that will reduce GHG emissions, reduce operating costs, and allow arena operations to continue year-round. The upgrades include lighting, heating, improvements to ice plant operations and pool facilities, and the installation of a 50 kW DC solar photovoltaics. The project has an expected annual savings of $78,216. The reduction of energy costs will allow for a significant increase in funding for community services and programming. The Lunenburg County Multi Purpose Centre Corporation (LCMPCC) is a joint venture between The Town of Bridgewater and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg. The two municipal units came together to form the Section 60 Corporation that is the LCMPCC, of which the LCLC is the sole holding. Councillors from the two Municipal units make up a board of directors responsible for the policy direction of the facility and work in conjunction with the general manager to direct operation of the facility. The project assets will be operated by the Lunenburg County Multi-Purpose Centre Corporation. The technology is commercially available within Canada and can be deployed quickly and efficiently. |
