Lyme Barn

completed

Lyme Barn is a luminous timber barn designed by Sylvia Richards Practice for Architecture in Lyme, New Hampshire. The design reinterprets traditional New England barn architecture with a porous cedar facade and translucent glass banding, creating a patterned lantern effect. The barn features an inverted layout with vehicles on the ground floor and farming equipment above, supported by a mass timber frame for sustainability. The upper level has a 'straw hat' construction with diagonal cedar boards over bronze mesh, filtering light and air.
