Description
Description | LYRIQAS is a project that seeks to study, explore in praxis and share within the contemporary tradition through new performative and artistic means of expression, the common link in classical European culture. This culture emerged in Greece, was then adopted and transmitted by the Romans, first throughout the Mediterranean and then to the rest of Europe, and became what we now perceive as our Western culture. From Athens to Galicia and Braga and back, this project aims to bring together young artists from these regions in a creative collaboration. Each artist, having her/his own tradition and her/his art as a tool, will embark on a journey through time and art to produce contemporary pieces of music, film and theatre. The premises where these artists will come together are four residencies (one for each discipline and one multidisciplinary) and a festival that will unite them and enable them to disseminate their work with new and young audiences. Through the foreseen activities, we aim to address the following specific objectives: - Reconnect the cultural tradition, background and heritage from the Latin world that the 3 regions have in common, utilising new performative narratives while focusing on the genres of music, literature, drama and cinema. - Foster the exchange of artists and cultural agents between the 3 regions, with a triple goal: boosting the international opportunities of artists, enabling the co-creation and reaching new audiences in common. - Engage new audiences and convey to the general audience other European creations, by involving them in the discovery of the traditions and enabling the re-interpretation of the classical productions that constitutes the basis of our current culture. - Create new and innovative ensemble work that will enable young artists to coexist, cocreate and cooperate, utilising the different genres, while aiming to present a contemporary narrative of the rich European cultural heritage shared by the 3 regions |
