M-12 Sialkot-Kharian Motorway Project

delayed

The M-12 Sialkot to Kharian Motorway project in Pakistan has experienced significant delays and a substantial increase in costs. Originally planned as a four-lane motorway with an estimated cost of Rs. 22.5 billion, the project scope was later expanded to six lanes, leading to a revised cost of nearly Rs. 82 billion. Delays in hydraulic model studies for the bridge over the River Chenab and slow land acquisition contributed to the cost escalation. The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been instructed to submit a revised PC-1 for the project.
