The project involves the design, construction, commissioning, and operations and maintenance of 100 MWp M-KAT Solar PV power plant, located next to the village of Shu in the Zhambyl region in Kazakhstan. The sponsor is Total Eren SA and the SPV is M-KAT Green LLP. In September 2016, Total signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Financial Settlement Center for Renewable Energy Sources (FSC), which is owned by the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC). The project cost is around EUR 105 million ($118 million). Debt funding is secured from ABD with $30.5 million loan in KZT equivalent and from EBRD with KZT 21.5 billion loan ($58 million). Financial close was announced on 3 July 2019. EPC contractor is METKA EGN, a subsidiary of MYTILINEOS SA.
