Description

Description

This “Pan-African” regional engagement will support the establishment and partial capitalization of a Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) Equity Fund ("the Fund") to be established and managed by Africa50. By channeling Regional IDA resources through Africa50 to investee funds, the PCF will provide critically needed patient equity financing to DRE companies across Sub-Saharan Africa. The PCF’s investments will be allocated in such way to take on higher risk positions and attract additional capital from private investors who might otherwise be hesitant to invest. This financing structure will help narrow the funding gap for scaling emerging DRE markets.
