The Project will support inclusive territorial development to maximize the impact and spillovers of Nador West Med complex and foster social-economic activities in the Project area. It will also help align, coordinate and synchronize the needed soft and hard investments to maximize the impact of the NWM complex on the economic activity in different provinces in the Project area. The Project will focus on three areas of intervention:(i) Component 1: Strengthening territorial development approach (ii) Component 2: Support to the private sector development readiness and competitiveness in the North-East region (i) Component 3: Improvement of road infrastructure Component 1 will support the preparation of a priority investments roadmap and a multimodal strategy to enhance the region’s attractiveness to investors, based on the sectoral and local development plans under preparation. It will consolidate priority interventions in several areas (urban development, business environment, skills development, etc.) bridging the identified coordination gaps and paving the way for integrated development of the greater Nador area in preparation for the operationalization of the NWM.Component 2 will support (i) the upgrade of skills of the young workforce in the Oriental region through increased access to market-relevant skills development training and entrepreneurship opportunities, with an emphasis on girls/women, and individuals from marginalized households and (ii) the attractiveness of the region to the private sector and the identification of export-oriented value chains. Component 3 will increase the physical connectivity of NWM with the rest of the Project Area, in particular with regional poles, streamlining transit time between the port and production areas and enhancing the market potential of these poles.
