The project will increase the reliability of marine infrastructure by completing works to remove an existing dock that has reached the end of its life and replace it with a new dock on Meares Island that is within the traditional territory of the Ahousaht First Nation. The new dock will allow continued access for the public to visit the island and enjoy the Lone Cone Park trails, the campground/hostel and would also act as a secondary egress for the Opitsit reserve if an emergency were to occur. The project works include: - removal of existing dock and shed; - completion of bathymetry and planning; - installation of a new pier, ramp and float including footings and pilings; and, - related works.
