The Macau Refuse Incineration Plant's Phase 3 expansion boosts daily waste handling capacity to over 3,000 tons at the only urban solid waste treatment facility in Macau. The project includes refuse receiving, charging and incineration systems; waste heat recovery; steam turbine power; water and steam cooling; flue gas cleaning; fly ash and slag handling; a new power substation; and a 25-ton-per-day hazardous waste treatment plant. It allows for annual power generation of 200 million kWh at full capacity. The design reduces the bulk of the complex on a tight site using a stacked layout with photovoltaic glass curtain walls for natural light and ventilation, and incorporates sustainability features such as wastewater treatment and rooftop rainwater harvesting. The project was finished ahead of schedule and on budget.
