Description | Machkund Hydroelectric Project is a 120 MW hydropower project located in the Koraput district of Odisha along the border with Andhra Pradesh. It is situated on the western slopes of the Eastern Ghats near Duduma Falls on the Machkund River, supported by the Jalaput Dam and reservoir. The project is an inter-state initiative by the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, with construction starting in 1948 and commercial operation beginning in 1955. Power sharing between the two states was initially 70:30 and later revised to an equal 50:50 share. |
