Description | In November 2010, Consorcio Transmantaro, a subsidiary of the Colombian company ISA, contract to build and operate the 204-km Machupicchu - Abancay - Cotaruse transmission line, located in the provinces of Unubamba, Abancay and Aymaraes. Besides Consorcio Transmantaro, only two other companies took part in the contest: the Spanish company Abengoa and the local consortium REI-AC Capitales. The bidding criteria set by the regulatory agency was the lowest cost of service (investment expenditures and operation and maintenance costs). The 30-year contract was signed in December 2010. The sponsor committed to invest US$ 75 million in the project. As of December 2014, 92.7% of the construction works had been concluded, and operations were expected to commence in March 2015. |
