Description

Description

The Mackenzie Biofuel Project is a proposed Biomass Electrolysis to Liquids (BETL®) Bio-Synfuel facility in Mackenzie, British Columbia. It will convert 84,000 dry tonnes per year of forestry wood waste into 30 million liters per year of renewable diesel, renewable naphtha, and bio-wax with very low life cycle carbon intensity. The project aims to displace fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions significantly. There is potential to scale the project to process 336,000 tonnes of dry biomass per year producing 120 million liters per year of Bio-Synfuel. The project also plans to add Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, with initial market interest in 18 million liters/year and potential expansion to 72 million liters/year. The project has community and Indigenous support and aims to secure funding early in 2026 with production by 2029. A fully funded $8 million Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study is expected to complete by Q1 2026.
