Elon Musk's AI startup xAI is planning a massive data center project called MACROHARDRR in the Memphis–Southaven region of Mississippi. The project involves building a colossal new infrastructure to expand computing power, with an investment of more than $20 billion. The facility is strategically located near xAI's power plant site and existing Tennessee data centers, and alongside its flagship AI factory, Colossus, supporting nearly 200,000 GPUs with a roadmap to 1 million. The project aims to boost total computing capacity to roughly 2 gigawatts, with operations expected to begin as early as February 2026.
