Madagascar - Environmental Programme - Phase I

The Environmental Programme is a priority action of the Government that is essential for the achievement of sustainable and harmonious development. Its aims to create the best conditions for the proper implementation of the Environmental Action Plan (EAP). The implementation of the national environmental policy is a long-term action with the ultimate objective of reversing the current trend of degradation by gradually changing the itinerant and/or destructive production method currently used, while directing actions towards the empowerment of the population. The programme has seven components, namely: (A) biodiversity management; (B) soil conservation; (C) geographical information; (D) land tenure security; (E) education, awareness; (F) environmental research and (G) support for the EAP.
