Madagascar - Institutional Governance Support Project (PAGI)

The Institutional Governance Support Project (PAGI) focuses on improving Public Financial Management (PFM) systems (internal and external control) and governance within the mining sector. It was designed to gradually put an end to the deterioration of the PFM situation in the aim to contribute to restoring the achievements of previous interventions, in the area of resource mobilization, internal and external auditing, the fight against corruption and transparency in the extractive sector. Thus, the project will contribute to efforts by Malagasy authorities to gradually restore PFM capacity in the context of protracted political crisis that has weakened institutions. This operation is structured in two operational components, namely: (i) improving public resource mobilization and control systems; and (ii) strengthening the fight against corruption and improving transparency in the extractive sector. There is a third component dealing with project management, research and knowledge management. These three components are mutually complementary and reinforce each other. PAGI will be implemented over a period of 36 months.
