Description
Description | The project contributes to the preservation of Madagascar's diverse and unique flora and fauna and its use through nature tourism. The aim of the project (FZ module objective) is to enable the project sponsor Madagascar National Parks (MNP) to ensure the long-term, integrated and sustainable management of the protected areas strategically, administratively, technically and financially and thus to contribute to the development of the neighboring areas. The FC module builds on the previous successful cooperation with MNP. The project sponsor will be supported in the implementation of its newly developed strategic plan (2022 - 2026), which incorporates the learning experiences from the implementation of the previous strategic plan. The project measures are based on MNP's four strategic pillars of nature conservation, participatory protected area management, priority markets and management. The project will primarily promote the implementation of activities to promote the socio-economic development of the neighboring communities and investments in the tourist infrastructure. In addition, salaries and operating costs will be financed on a degressive basis. It is planned that from 2027, the FAPBM nature conservation foundation, which is also supported by the Federal Development Fund, will take over the financing of salaries in all 43 MNP protected areas. Furthermore, the module will support MNP with technical and organizational advice to further improve its organizational efficiency, reduce operating costs, and increase and diversify revenues. |
