Madera 99/233 Chowchilla Interchange Improvement Project

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to make operational improvements at the existing State Route 99/State Route 233 interchange by constructing two roundabouts at the ramp intersections in the City of Chowchilla. The existing State Route 233 Bridge over State Route 99 will remain in place to accommodate eastbound traffic. A new separate concrete bridge will be constructed for westbound traffic. A 10-foot-wide sidewalk will be placed along the westbound lanes on the new bridge to provide pedestrians and bicyclists with a connection between the west and east sides of the city. Other work includes the widening of the Ash Slough Bridge on State Route 99, drainage improvements, and access road construction. New right-of-way will be required for project construction.
