Information A Procurement-cum-Maintenance Agreement[PCMA] was signed on 30-11-2015 between Ministry of Railways and GE Diesel Locomotive Pvt. Ltd. , now Wabtec Locomotive Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture of Ministry of Railways and GE Global Sourcing India Pvt. Ltd. for setting up Diesel Locomotive Factory at Marhowra, Saran/Bihar, supply of 1000 nos Diesel Locomotives of 4500/6000 HP and setting up maintenance depots at Roza & Gandhidham for maintenance of these locomotives. Against this agreement 1000 nos Diesel Locomotives of 4500/6000 HP shall be supplied by the JV company to Indian Railways. Out of 1000, 565 locomotives have been supplied till October,2023. Economic/Social Impact of the Project A Procurement-cum-Maintenance Agreement [PCMA] was signed on 30.11.15 between Ministry of Railways and Madhepura Electric Locomotive Pvt. Ltd. [MELPL], Joint Venture of Ministry of Railways and Alstom Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. for setting up Electric Locomotive Factory at Madhepura, Bihar, supply of 800 nos of 12000 HP Electric Locomotives and setting up two maintenance depots at Saharanpur & Nagpur for maintenance of these locomotives. As Government obligations Indian Railways will provide land, rail connectivity and road connectivity to the Factory and Maintenance Depots.
