Ltd [MELPL], Joint Venture of Ministry of Railways and Alstom Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. for setting up Electric Locomotive Factory at Madhepura, Bihar, for manufacture and supply of 800 nos of 12000 HP Electric Locomotives and setting up two maintenance depots at Saharanpur & Nagpur for maintenance of these locomotives. Factory at Madhepura and maintenance depots at Saharanpur & Nagpur are in operation.
