The project involves the development of a 668 km river waterway to improve navigability between Bocas de Ceniza (Barranquilla) and Barrancabermeja (Santander) in Colombia. Magdalena River Waterway PPP project includes the construction of the channeling structures for an area of 90 km in the section between Barrancabermeja - New Site and maintenance dredging in the other sections. The project will have 18 functional units or sections and most of the works correspond to hydraulic infrastructure (shore protection, breakwater repair, submerged dikes, shore lining, moorings, among others).Upon completion, the river will have a depth of 7 ft and could transport convoys of up to 7,200 tons (the equivalent of about 234 trucks). This project will benefit the populations of 50 municipalities, positively impacting more than 1,577,150 local population.
