Description

Description

“MagiC Carpets” platform unites 14 European cultural organisations that create opportunities for emerging artists to embark on journeys to unknown lands and to create, together with local artists and local communities, new works that highlight the local specificities and compensate for the shortage of story-telling existing in modern day society by enhancing cultural accessibility, activism and participation. “MagiC Carpets” platform is an opportunity for cultural organisations to engage in artist residencies and collaborate with other European organisations specifically on artist development in carefully designed international mobility scheme opening new opportunities for exchange, learning and creation. The platform aims to support small-scale, NGO sector organisations, artists and cultural professionals, in order to help build their resilience and help with recovery after the global COVID-19 pandemic when the cultural sector was profoundly affected by lockdowns and physical distancing measures. The transnational circulation of artists and co-production of artworks remains limited and therefore it becomes important to support cultural organisations in order for them to: i) reach local and international audiences with innovative co-creative and inclusive tools and methods, ii) contribute towards the training of emerging talent (curators and artists), iii) support the development of cultural operators’ knowledge and skills and iv) involve the most disadvantaged and hard-to-reach groups of our society in arts and culture activities. “MagiC Carpets” platform will pave the way for a better access to culture, active engagement of citizens and intercultural, interfaith and intergenerational dialogue. The platform will play a central role in the sector, gathering all the emerging and non-promoted curators and artists that are the most innovative in their field and provide opportunities to the younger generation for networking, promotion and production of new artworks.
