Description | Walt Disney World slowed down expansion plans for Magic Kingdom due to a fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the takeover of the Reedy Creek Improvement District by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. The expansion includes new attractions, redevelopment of existing attractions, and potentially new hotels, expanding the footprint of Magic Kingdom. Disney deliberately delayed development to gauge the hostility of the new board. The first step involved water mitigation work and obtaining wetland credits. The delay was a consensus decision by Walt Disney World leadership led by President Jeff Vahle. |
