The project aims to evaluate the feasibility of constructing a cutting-edge submarine cable connecting southern Italy with the western coast of Greece. The project encompasses an inception study to assess route design, permit feasibility, and eco-friendly solutions for the submarine cable, as well as identifying landing sites and analysing terrestrial backhauling interconnection in Italy and Greece. The project aligns with EU objectives, prioritising redundant submarine gateways and promoting digital connectivity for socio-economic development in the region. Endorsed by the Greek Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Taranto city authorities, the project emphasizes sustainability and environmental impact management. It will be executed through two Work Packages: Project Management and Communication, and Feasibility Study.
