Description | The project entails the construction of a 236 km 400KV double circuit transmission line comprising a D/C line from Maheshwaram (PG) to Mehboob Nagar and 2 lines of 400kv line bays at Mehboob Nagar S/S of TSTRANSCO; and a 400 kv D/C line from Nizamabad to Yeddumailaram (Shankarpalli) and another 2 lines of 400kv line bays at Yeddumailaram (Shankarpalli) by Maheshwaram Transmission Pvt Ltd ("Project Company"). The sponsor is Sterlite Grid 3, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pune based Sterlite. The project will be developed on a build, own, operate and maintain basis with a contract period of 35 years. Sterlite Grid emerged as the the L-1 (lowest) bidder for the project followed by Power Grid Corporation (L-2) and Kalpataru Power Transmission (KPTL) (L-3) in a competitive tendering process whose results were announced in July, 2015. The bid was called by REC Transmission Projects Company Ltd (RECTPCL), a subsidiary of Rural Electrification Corporation- a Govt of India initiative. There were a total of 6 qualified bidders, of which 3 did not bid in the final round. The total project cost is $58 million. Financing comprises a $47 million 15-year term loan provided by IndusInd Bank and equity contribution of $11 million.
